Maricopa County supervisors approve rezoning request for Goldhawk plan

Neighbors oppose subdivision adjacent to Goldfield Ranch

Maricopa County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously at a May meeting to approve a rezoning application for property east of Fountain Hills that will allow for a subdivision development of up to 696 residences.

Property owners Goldfield Ranch Realty Holdings and Four Peaks Holdings, LLC, are represented by land use attorney Wendy Riddell of Berry Riddell, LLC. The request will change the zoning on the property now being called Goldhawk at the Preserve. The property had a zoning overlay that includes Rural-190, Rural-70 RUPD, Rural-43 RUPD and R1-8 RUPD. The request provides for an overlay of Rural-43 RUPD zoning on the parcel.

The property is located along State Route 87 (Beeline Highway) east of the Verde River between the existing Goldfield development and the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation. Both residents of the Goldfield subdivision and Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation have expressed their concerns related to the proposed development. Their issues include traffic, assured water supply, utilities access and septic system requirements.
