Marvin F. Mews

Marvin Frederick Mews, age 88 of Fountain Hills, beloved husband, father, Grandpa-Guy and friend went to be with the Lord on June 12, 2019 after a long struggle with Parkinson’s disease.

Surviving Marvin are his wife, Patricia Mews; ex-wife Carol Mews; seven children, Jeff Mews, Tenn., Julie Ross, Ky., Mindy Turner, Ark., Kristen Mews, Ky., Steve Brouwer, Texas, and Sheri Patton, Fountain Hills; 17 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

Marvin was born March 17, 1931, in Milwaukee Wis. In 1954 he was united in marriage to Carol Thorsen. He was later married to Patricia Claeys on Dec. 28, 1977. Marvin attended Luther College in Iowa, and then on to Syracuse University where he was one of the first individuals to receive a Master’s Degree in Radio and Television (black and white). He then worked as a TV director and producer in Albany, NY, Milwaukee, and Chicago. He was a professor at Western Kentucky University, where he taught in the School of Media and Communication.

Marvin directed and produced for CBS Sports every weekend for 25 years, predominately NFL Football along with NBA, golf and the Triple Crown. He also produced and directed NHL with the Detroit Red Wings. He started his second career with Anheuser Busch producing and directing corporate business meetings and special events production.

Marvin retired after that but started attending the University of Michigan to study Theater Directing and Shakespeare.

After moving to Arizona, Marvin was active in the Scottsdale Broadway Babies Productions, Guyz & Dollz Singing Group, Fountain Hills Community Band and worked with the Fountain Hills Theater building sets and assisting with design.

A private Celebration of Life will be held July 20, 2019. Memorials may be made in Marvin F. Mews’ name to Muhammad Ali Parkinson’s Center, c/o Joanne Ruelas. 240 W Thomas Road suite 302, Phoenix, AZ 85013.
