Mary Ann Brown

Mary Ann Lukens Peck Brown, 79, died peacefully in her sleep after a long illness Feb. 28, 2013 at her home in Fountain Hills.

Formerly of Roanoke, Va. she was predeceased by her husbands, John F. Peck Jr. and Samuel T. Brown Jr., and her parents, William C. and Mary Wilson Lemon Lukens.

A native of Roanoke, she graduated from Jefferson High School and Radford College. She also attended Hollins College. She taught in Roanoke County, Richmond City and North Cross schools.

She was an avid golfer and a member of Waters Edge Country Club, Penhook, Va., where she and Sam lived for several years. She was also an avid bridge player.

She is survived by her children, John F. Peck III “Jeff” and Ann C. Peck, both of Arizona; and grandchildren Katherine M. Peck of Roanoke and Anne C. Peck of Fairfax, Va.

Funeral plans are incomplete at the present time. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of the Valley in Phoenix.
