Groundbreaking to remodel McDonald’s at Shea and Saguaro boulevards was scheduled to begin yesterday, Tuesday, and continue to March 29.
The Chamber of Commerce attributed the information Monday to Jose Quiroz of the local McDonald’s location.
The first phase of the construction involves closing the drive-through windows until Feb. 18. Guests will be able to dine inside the restaurant during that period.

The restaurant will have a full closure from Feb. 4-18.
The second phase of construction will begin Feb. 19 until the tentative reopening date of March 29. The lobby will be closed; customers will be able to buy food through the drive-through windows.
Quiroz said the construction timetable is tentative and could change due to unforeseen circumstances.
Customers will receive a free sandwich of their choice at the Fountain Hills location for being patient during the remodeling.
If the remodel follows the trend in other cities across the nation, kiosks will be installed for customers to place orders and the outdoor play area will be eliminated.
