McDowell Mountain Elementary School Earns 'A+' rating

On Wednesday, April 10, McDowell Mountain Elementary School Principal Valerie Dehombreux announced to students and staff that the Arizona Education Foundation has awarded McDowell Mountain its coveted “A+ School of Excellence” rating. Principal Dehombreux and other MMES staff members have been working on getting McDowell Mountain the rating since October of 2017.

“The A+ School of Excellence program celebrates outstanding schools throughout Arizona, calling attention to the positive stories and successes occurring in public schools,” said AEF Executive Director, Kim Graham in the foundation announcement. “The application and evaluation process for this program is comprehensive and rigorous. We applaud these schools for exceeding expectations to meet their students’ needs and for achieving overall success despite the many challenges that face the education community statewide.”

McDowell Mountain is currently working with the Arizona Education Foundation on setting up a time in May to present the school with its official A+ banner. Look for additional details in the April 17 edition of The Fountain Hills Times.
