Meet Your Teacher dates set

Posted

As the new school year approaches, local sites are offering “meet your teacher” days and guided tours of campuses.

Following is a list of important dates and times for students planning to attend Fountain Hills Charter School or any of the sites within the Fountain Hills Unified School District.

Charter School

For the Charter School, teachers will contact parents to set up parent/teacher conferences for some one-on-one time in the classroom.

These meetings are designed to set up a personal education plan for the school year and will be held on Thursday and Friday, Aug. 4-5.

McDowell Mountain

McDowell Mountain Elementary School will hold several kick-off events for the 2016-17 school year, including Meet Your Teacher day for the full campus on Friday, Aug. 5, from 9 to 11 a.m. For those who still need to register, the office is officially open for the new school year and parents are encouraged to drop by when convenient.

Preschool Back to School Night will be held on Aug. 16 at 6 p.m. Additional Back to School Nights will be hosted for grades kindergarten through third on Aug. 17. Kindergarten and first grade classes will meet from 6-7 p.m. and the second through third grade classes will meet from 7:30-8:30 p.m.

Four Peaks/FHMS

The Four Peaks Elementary School and Fountain Hills Middle School Meet Your Teacher Open House event is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 4, from 5:30 to 8 p.m.

Parents are invited to stop by with their students anytime throughout the evening.

Special sessions devoted to curriculum information will also be presented throughout the night with fourth grade taking place at 5:30 p.m., fifth grade at 6 p.m., sixth grade at 6:30 p.m., seventh grade at 7 p.m. and eighth grade at 7:30 p.m.

Middle school students can pick up their new class schedules during the Meet Your Teacher event or on the first day of school. Money can also be put on a lunch account during this time, PE uniforms and Falcon spirit wear can be purchased and additional community clubs and organizations will be on hand to meet visiting families.

FHHS

Fountain Hills High School no longer requires parents to visit the campus for “walkthrough” registrations, though tours can be scheduled at any time on the high school website. Visit fhusd.org, highlight “Our Schools” and select “High School.” An option to set up a campus tour is on the right side of the page.

Otherwise, parents are encouraged to conduct pre-registration activities and fee payments online prior to the first day of school. Students will complete the remaining registration activities and turn in necessary forms on the first day of school, including receiving their IDs, lockers and turning in any necessary paperwork.

The online registration process offers all necessary forms at fhusd.org. Again, the High School page can be accessed under “Our Schools.” On the FHHS page, highlight the “About Us” tab at the top of the page, then click on “Registration.” Online registration opens at the end of July. That page is also where parents can access the off-campus lunch permission slip, parking permit, fee list, master schedule, course catalog and fee payment tab.

An offline registration is still available for those who would prefer to register and pay fees in person. Forms should be printed out from the high school’s website and filled out prior to the walk-in registration period.

Registration will be held Thursday, Aug. 4, from 12:30 to 7 p.m. in the high school gym.

Finally, an open house for the high school will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 18.
