As the new school year approaches, local sites are offering “meet your teacher” days and guided tours of campuses.

Following is a list of important dates and times for students planning to attend Fountain Hills Charter School or any of the sites within the Fountain Hills Unified School District.

Charter School

For the Charter School, teachers will contact parents to set up parent/teacher conferences for some one-on-one time in the classroom.

These meetings are designed to set up a personal education plan for the school year and will be held on Aug. 6-7.

McDowell Mountain

McDowell Mountain Elementary School will hold several kick-off events for the 2015-16 school year, including Meet Your Teacher day for the full campus on Friday, Aug. 7, from 9 to 11 a.m.

Preschool Back to School Night will be held on Aug. 18 at 6 p.m. Additional Back to School Nights will be hosted for grades kindergarten through third on Aug. 20. Kindergarten and first grade classes will meet from 6-7 p.m. and the second through third grade classes will meet from 7:30-8:30 p.m.

Four Peaks/FHMS

The Four Peaks Elementary School and Fountain Hills Middle School Meet Your Teacher Open House event is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 6, from 5:30 to 8 p.m.

Parents are invited to stop by with their students anytime throughout the evening.

Special sessions devoted to curriculum information will also be presented throughout the night with fourth grade taking place at 5:30 p.m., fifth grade at 6 p.m., sixth grade at 6:30 p.m., seventh grade at 7 p.m. and eighth grade at 7:30 p.m.

Middle school students can pick up their new class schedules during the Meet Your Teacher event or on the first day of school.

FHHS

Fountain Hills High School no longer requires parents to visit the campus for “walkthrough” registrations.

Instead, parents are encouraged to conduct pre-registration activities and fee payments online prior to the first day of school. Students will complete the remaining registration activities and turn in necessary forms on the first day of school, including receiving their IDs, lockers and turning in any necessary paperwork.

Two options are available for this year’s students. First is the online registration process, with all necessary forms available at fhusd.org. The High School page can be accessed under “Our School.” On the FHHS page, highlight the “About Us” tab at the top of the page, then click on “Registration.” Online registration opens on July 29.

An offline registration is still available for those who would prefer to register and pay fees in person. Forms should be printed out from the high school’s website and filled out prior to the walk-in registration period. In-person fee payments can be done on Aug. 4. Times range from 7:30 to 11:30 a.m. for students with last names A-L, and 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for students with last names M-Z.
