Fountain Hills Fire Department has notified residents living in the vicinity of Fountain Hills and Shea boulevards that it will host an informational meeting for citizens on two dates next week.

The first meeting is scheduled for Monday, Dec. 2, and will be held in council chambers at Town Hall beginning at 5 p.m.

The town is working on the potential relocation of Fire Station #2 in the southern half of Fountain Hills to a site that will better meet response time requirements.

Two locations are being considered and one of those is on Fountain Hills Boulevard just north of Shea across from Muskrat Drive. The second site is on Shea Boulevard on the north side just east of Palisades Boulevard.

The Shea property is within the roadway right-of-way and owned by the town. The Fountain Hills Boulevard site is currently owned by MCO Properties and the town has begun discussing a land swap to acquire that parcel.

MCO had deeded a lot in Eagles Nest to the town for a fire station, but the town will not be using that site and is willing to trade.

A second public meeting has been scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 5, also at 5 p.m. in the council chambers. This is just prior to the scheduled council meeting.
