Visitors to Fountain Hills’ annual Stroll in the Glow on Saturday, Dec. 6, will have an opportunity to experience a touch of European holiday tradition with a “Weihnachtsmarkt Hütte,” inspired by Germany’s well-known Christmas markets.
Presented by Christine Colley of Fountain Hills Sister Cities, Alysia Dahir of Dahir Tax & Accounting Firm and Tania C. Brown of MCO Realty, the miniature Christmas market hut will be located in front of SOFRITA along the Avenue of the Fountains.
Germany’s Weihnachtsmärkte are known for wooden cabins offering candies, gingerbread hearts, roasted nuts, handcrafted decorations and other holiday treats, according to a press release.
Fountain Hills’ version will feature homemade Christmas cookies and handcrafted gingerbread hearts by Jennifer Ward of Mountain View Kitchen, caramel popcorn and a limited number of commemorative Weihnachtsmarkt mugs designed by local artist Joshua Gridley.
SOFRITA will also serve Glühwein, the warm mulled wine traditionally enjoyed at winter markets across Germany.
Family-friendly activities will be available as well. Local artist Morgan Bartman of Freckled Feather Craft Co. will lead children’s holiday craft projects and Heather Riley will offer her handcrafted ornaments.
