We are writing to correct a blatant misperception that appeared repeatedly in the letters to the editor section last week concerning our shared preaching initiative entitled “Progressive Christianity: Fact or Fiction?”
Contrary to what seems to be the dominant narrative in last week’s letters (as well as the media in general), we have never mentioned (let alone “targeted”) any individual or church as the focus of our efforts.
In fact, it now appears quite obvious that there is only one person in Fountain Hills who thinks this is about one person in Fountain Hills.

Let us be clear here: as far as we are concerned, this is entirely about our Lord, Jesus Christ -- not the culturally accommodated sage who has risen to recent popularity in some circles -- but the eternally vital and life-giving Savior revealed in Scripture.
For this reason, we want to take this opportunity to say that we believe our sermons stand as the best representations of what we collectively wish to say to our community.
We urge those who are interested in finding out what all this is really about to join in Sunday morning worship at one or more of the churches entrusted to our care and/or to search out the recorded versions of earlier sermons on our respective websites.
