Citizens wanting to register to vote in the Tuesday, Aug. 26 primary election have until next Monday to make sure they are registered.

The registration deadline is midnight July 28.

Early ballots for the election will be placed in the mail Thursday, July 31. Those who are not already on the permanent early voter list need to make a request for one.

Those receiving the early ballot are encouraged to mark their ballot and return it as soon as possible to avoid delays in tallying votes after Election Day.

Registered voters may request an early ballot at the Maricopa County Recorder’s website.

Fountain Hills Town Hall will also be an early voting site beginning on Monday, Aug. 4. During regular business hours, Monday through Thursday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. people may turn in their early ballots and replace a lost or spoiled ballot.

The primary includes the Fountain Hills Town Council with four individuals vying for three seats becoming vacant as of December.

Candidates include Lina Bellenir, Nick DePorter, incumbent Councilman Henry Leger and Alan Magazine.

If any of the candidates received a majority of the number of ballots cast (50 percent plus one) they will be elected outright.

Anyone not receiving a majority of the vote will be included in a run-off for the seat in the General Election in November.

Mayor Linda Kavanagh is also on the ballot, but is running unopposed for her second term in office.
