As I was reading a couple recent letters, my thoughts ran to my childhood and something my parents used to tell me if I wanted something that was unnecessary or that they couldn’t afford: “money doesn’t grow on trees.”
This thought came in response to those who have written how much money has been “saved” under ObamaCare. Exactly where do they think these “savings” are coming from?
There is a mistaken belief held by many that money from the government is “free.” The fact is that the government isn’t a source of money; it is nothing but a middleman and a very inefficient one at that.

Money trees?

Any “savings” seen under ObamaCare come directly from taxes somewhere else. If you “saved” a dollar on a prescription, that dollar didn’t come out of thin air; it came from a tax on someone else. In other words, their money was transferred to you, plain and simple. Good for you, not so good for them. (There’s another word for this: socialism.) The Affordable Care Act (the purposefully misleading name given to ObamaCare) is only affordable to those who aren’t paying for it. In the end though, we’ll all pay – it doesn't grow on trees.
