The first of the summer monsoon storms moved through the Valley late Wednesday evening creating a spectacular light show with lightning and thunder.

Rainfall from the storm was scattered based on readings from Maricopa County Flood Control District monitoring sites around the community.

The Times rain gauge outside the office on Laser Drive collected .50 inch during the storm.

The county rain gauge at the Palisades Boulevard fire station received .35 inch, and .16 inch was recorded along McDowell Mountain Road just north of town.

However, the county stations at other locations to the west and in the lower McDowell Mountains collected only a small amount or no rainfall.

The chance of rain remains in the forecast through Saturday, with the National Weather Service calling for a 40 percent chance of rain on Friday.
