This property tax monster will never die. Your property tax bill will increase every year forever.

A property tax makes as much sense as splitting a restaurant check based on what you drove up in. Cadillac drivers should always pay much more than Ford, never mind the number of people in each car.

Voter-approved bonds are better than a property tax. They get paid off, go away and voters are in charge. The first Saguaro Blvd. bond vote was for $38 million; second try $20 million; third try voters approved, doing it for $8 million. It works.

A new tax will just disappear into the local swamp and reappear as a lagoon, Fountain Park lights or something equally ill-conceived. A Vision Committee recommendation is not God’s word. Vision people only represent themselves or some special interest, not the residents. They look for ways to spend taxpayer money on junk.

The Chamber of Commerce likes the tax. They rent town streets to artists and pocket a quarter to one-half million dollars. The town should get 50 to 60 percent of the gross.

Democrat friends of Ginny like the tax. Democrats never saw a tax they didn’t like or one they thought was too high. They know best what to do with your money and it’s fun to spend.

If you don’t think you pay enough in taxes, write the town a check and leave the rest of us out of it. Or move back to the high-tax bit of heaven you left. Just vote no. They take enough without permission and this tax is forever.
