Montgomery at GOP meet

Maricopa County Attorney Bill Montgomery will be the keynote speaker at the next Fountain Hills Republican Club meeting Saturday, Aug. 16, at 9 a.m. at the Community Center.

Montgomery will address many of the issues that will be facing the newly-elected state officers and the Arizona State Legislature.

Montgomery was first elected in a special election in 2010 and re-elected in 2012.

Montgomery at GOP meet

Maricopa County Attorney Bill Montgomery will be the keynote speaker at the next Fountain Hills Republican Club meeting Saturday, Aug. 16, at 9 a.m. at the Community Center.

Montgomery will address many of the issues that will be facing the newly-elected state officers and the Arizona State Legislature.

Montgomery was first elected in a special election in 2010 and re-elected in 2012.

He is a strong advocate for the rights of crime victims. He is also passionate about child abuse issues and has helped to shape legislation for the reform of Child Protective Services, which has resulted in creation of a new Office of Child Welfare Investigations. He is also committed to fighting fraud and identity theft.

Other speakers on the agenda will be Trevor Laky and Carlos Alfaro.

Laky is the Western Regional Coordinator of Heritage Action for America, a sister organization for the Heritage Foundation.

Laky first became active in politics while attending Arizona State University and becoming President of the College Republicans.

Alfaro is a field coordinator for The LIBRE Initiative, a national conservative pro-free market organization that focuses on Hispanics.

He is a student of economics and American history at ASU.

They will be speaking briefly about their respective organizations, but their main focus will be on sharing suggestions on how the GOP can reach out to independents and younger voters.

Attendees are invited to come at 8:30 a.m. for a meet and greet social time. Complimentary coffee and breakfast snacks are available.

On Tuesday, Aug. 26, the club will be holding a Primary Night Party at the Lexington Hotel (formerly the Holiday Inn). Cover charge will include a buffet meal, entertainment and live coverage of the election results. There will be a cash bar for sodas, beer, wine, and mixed drinks.

Reservations are also being taken for the Saturday, Sept. 20, Election Rally Picnic to be held at the American Legion Post No. 58 from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Members pre-pay will be $12; non-members and at the door admission will be $15.
