We hear more and more about what big, unrestrained government is doing to us. The Affordable Care Act, aka Obamacare, is not affordable. We don’t get to keep our insurance or doctor, unless maybe you’re willing and able to pay even more. The promise of health insurance to those without it has been overtaken by millions who are losing their coverage.
The IRS admitted to mistakes amidst improper targeting of conservative organizations. President Obama called it “boneheaded.” He promised to hold them “fully accountable,” but nobody has been fired nor received other discipline as a result. Has the definition of accountability changed?

Most days bring more pieces of troubling news.

Major questions remain about the NSA and violation of the privacy of American citizens. The unemployment rate goes down only because more and more people have stopped looking for work. The Obama administration continues to block construction of the Keystone pipeline, but it is actively trying to solve “income inequality,” claiming it isn’t fair that some people should have more wealth than others.
This is what happens when government is too big, too powerful, and ignores the proper limits imposed on it by the Constitution. National polling confirms that the majority of Americans agree that government is indeed too big.
This situation won’t fix itself. It demands the action of concerned and committed citizens. It requires us to get educated, get motivated, and get involved.
One way to do this is to join the next meeting of Fountain Hills AZ Tea Party on Tuesday, Feb. 18, 6:30 p.m., at FHUSD Learning Center. Our guests this month are Secretary of State (and candidate for governor) Ken Bennett, and our own Mayor Linda Kavanagh.
Admission is free. Donations to offset expenses are gratefully accepted. Please come and bring a friend.
