On Flag Day and every day, please recall what Patrick Henry said about himself with respect to liberty.
Our times demand, what may be needed, as “more not less” in both guns and liberty. Many more guns strapped unconcealed to hips of the law abiding, to consummate their constitutional right to bear arms.
More than 74 school shootings since the Connecticut tragedy. Jihadists in Iraq take innocent travelers out of their cars and summarily execute them. Insurrection in the Ukraine goes unimpeded. Priests shot in their parishes in Arizona.

The following idea is controversial: Each and every qualified person in the USA (with training) by law must carry, that is, bear unconcealed arms in public.
Only choice; to carry a fully loaded operating gun unconcealed or to carry a fake, real looking non-operating gun unconcealed for those who so choose. Thereby the right to bear arms is consummated. Appearance would say everybody is carrying “real heat.”
Would-be assailants, kidnappers, rapists, etc. would not know “who is packing real heat.” And this by itself is deterrence. Yes in some instances, initially, this would make it more difficult for law enforcement. Yes, there will be accidents. Public health authorities know about mass inoculations, whereby those un-inoculated are protected by those inoculated, if sufficiency of those inoculated is reached.
At this time it is unknown what people for the most part will choose, operating or non-operating, so Clint Eastwood’s character “Dirty Harry” saying “Well punk, do you feel lucky?” is applicable, in that would-be “perps” would not know if they are staring at “real heat.”
If this idea is poor it should be relegated to the scrap heap. But if after deliberation it is found to be merit, it should go a long way to insure our liberty.
