More primary candidates at GOP

Republican Club will conclude its introduction of GOP primary candidates at its Saturday, July 19, meeting.
The meeting will begin at 9 a.m. at the Fountain Hills Community Center and again feature the round robin format that has proven to be popular with its members.
The candidates appearing at the meeting will be Randy Pullen, candidate for state treasurer, Doug Little and Vernon Parker, candidates for the Arizona Corporation Commission, and Edith Stock, candidate for the Fountain Hills School District Governing Board.
Pullen is former chairman of the Arizona Republican Party and served as treasurer of the Republican National Committee.
Little is former chairman of Legislative District 23 and has extensive experience in the software industry, particularly related to development and management of energy production facilities.
Parker, a former mayor of Paradise Valley is an attorney. Stock is a retired educator with both teaching and administration experience. She also serves as treasurer of the Fountain Hills Republican Club and serves as its youth outreach chairman.
Maricopa County Supervisor Steve Chucri will be giving a brief update on county news.
This will be the last club meeting before early balloting for the primary election begins July 31.
No reservations are required to attend the meeting, which is open to all interested persons. Complimentary coffee and breakfast snacks are provided during the meet and greet period at 8:30 a.m.
Other club news
The Aug. 16 club meeting will feature Maricopa County Attorney Bill Montgomery and Trevor Laky, region coordinator of Heritage Action for America.
A primary night social will be held Tuesday, Aug. 26, at the Lexington Hotel’s Fireside Grill to watch the election night returns beginning at 6 p.m. A buffet will be available for $10 and a there will be a “no host” bar for soft drinks, beer, wine and cocktails. There will also be live entertainment.
GOP candidates have been invited to stop by to visit with the members. No reservations are required.
Plans have also been completed for the annual club picnic on Saturday, Sept. 20, from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at the American Legion on Parkview. The 2014 event will be an election rally picnic.
All GOP winners of the August primary contest will be invited. The cost is $12 for members (pre-paid); $15 for non-members and those paying at the door. Chicken, hamburgers, side dishes, soft drinks and water will be provided. A cash bar will also be available.
Reservations for the picnic may be made at the July 19 meeting and the Aug. 16 meeting.
The Fountain Hills Republican Club, one of the largest political groups in Arizona, welcomes all interested persons to its meetings and events.
