Mostly true?

Letters to the editor published on Aug. 1 were titled “Let down,” “Horrified,” “Attack ads,” “Poor taste,” “Insufferable,” “Plain ugly” and “Gutter.” These referred to outrageous partisan ads from John Kavanagh shouting that Ginny Dickey “won’t keep our children safe” and “opposes school safety measures.” He even referred to the ACLU.

Another letter from Councilman Brown was titled “Mostly true,” referring to realyates.com, which delineates the “Tale of Two Cecils.”

Mr. Yates is a devoted family man, church-going, conservative Republican. What realyates.com proves is there is another side to the man who would be our mayor.

Mr. Yates is a devoted family man, church-going, conservative Republican. What realyates.com proves is there is another side to the man who would be our mayor.

What is only “mostly true” about his leading the campaign to fire the town attorney in 2017, which all began in 2015 with an email from developer Bart Shea to Cecil stating “town attorney is going to dictate our lives…Congratulations, he wins,” and ends with a reckless metaphorical firing squad in a public forum?

What is only “mostly true” concerning the well-documented appearances of conflict of interest/entanglement in the Park Place fiasco? The Sheas donated $500 to Yates’ campaign and $2,000 to Kavanagh’s PAC. In 2015, Yates’ text regarding Shea saying “we put ourselves on the line for him. I’m really concerned.”

During the council meeting on Sept. 15, 2017, Yates attempted to undermine the legal positions of the soon-to-be-fired town attorney in the Shea lawsuit against the town. Shea’s attorney told the court that, if put under oath, Yates would betray the town’s interest and support Shea.

What is only “mostly true” concerning Yates’ role in the lagoon fiasco, misrepresenting the positions of the Sanitary District/State Parks Department?

Councilman Brown, please enlighten voters and explain the above.
