For those who missed it last year, Girl Scout Troop No. 2664 has restored the Mr. and Miss Dance event, with this year’s theme: The Perfect Night in Mexico.

The dance will take place Friday, March 21, from 6 to 9 p.m. in the Four Peaks multi-purpose room.

All dads, grandfathers or otherwise influential male figures in the lives of the community’s girls are invited to an evening that includes dinner provided by Señor Taco, dancing with a professional line-dance instructor and a professional photography booth.

The cost is $40 per couple, with $15 per additional girl, and includes the meal, one sombrero, a set of maracas, a glow necklace and one photograph per family.

Girls Scout Troop No. 2664 was inspired to revive the dance in an effort to attain their Bronze Award, a recognition that requires a minimum of 20 hours of work towards a cause that affects their community.

The girls of Troop No. 2664 decided at the beginning of the year to focus their efforts on raising awareness of Max’s Closet, a local group affiliated with Extended Hands Food Bank, that provides low-cost necessities for families in need.

“Once the girls discovered that Extended Hands Food Bank and Max’s Closet helps hundreds of families in Fountain Hills and could use their help to bring about awareness of the needs of these two organizations, they have been on a steadfast mission to help them ever since,” said Maura Enterline, Troop No. 2664 Leader.

“Many people are not aware that the Food Bank is in dire need of baby supplies and Max’s Closet needs all sorts of clothing, bedding, and furniture. Hopefully, through the Girl Scouts’ efforts, these needs will become a well-known fact.”

As part of this goal, there will be a benefit raffle during the dance. Attendees can receive a ticket with 10 cans of food or $10 per ticket, to be entered for a chance to win a basket of girlie goodies. All proceeds from the raffle will be donated to Max’s Closet/Extended Hands Food Bank.

Registration for this event ends today, March 12, and can be secured through eventbrite.com/e/the-perfect-night-in-mexico-mr-miss-dance-tickets-10680470575 (additional fee of $3.19) or mailed to Christina Cain, Attn: Dance, at 17202 E. La Pasada Dr. Fountain Hills, AZ 85268. Checks can be made out to Girl Scout Troop No. 2664.
