“9 to 5: The Musical,” with music and lyrics by Dolly Parton and book by Patricia Resnick, is based on the 1980 hit movie “Nine to Five.”
Pushed to the boiling point by their boss, three female co-workers concoct a plan to get even with the sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot they call their boss.
They conspire to take control of their company and learn there’s nothing they can’t do -- even in a man’s world.
Set in the late 1970s, “9 to 5: The Musical” is a hilarious story of friendship and revenge in the Rolodex era.
Outrageous, thought-provoking, and even a little romantic, “9 to 5: The Musical” is about teaming up and taking care of business.
The show is directed and choreographed by Dale Nakagawa, produced by Patty Torrilhon and musically directed by Dan Kurek and Assistant Music Director Eric D. Fish.
Costuming is by Gail Oliphant, props by Steve Mancarella, sound and projection design by Todd Carrie and light and set design by Peter J. Hill.
“9 to 5: The Musical” stars Miles Brindley, Kimberly Cooper-Schmidt, Scott Hyder, Matt Mcdonald, Amy Powers, Janis Webb and DeAnna Zacaria and features Jennifer Blom, Amy Burnett, Jonathan Perry Brown, Rebecca Dayley, Cristen Fortier, Erika Hanson, Mary Beth Ingram, Barry Lewis, Lew Myers, Tanya Schoenwolf, Kelly and Svitlana Smith and Patrick Steward.
“9 to 5: The Musical” is produced through special arrangement with Music Theatre International.
“9 to 5: The Musical” will play May 16 through June 8. Performances are Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. A reception hosted by Moxie Modern Fare will be held on opening night for all those attending that evening, featuring free appetizers, wine and soft drinks.
Individual tickets are $25 for adults and $20 for children 17 and under. Seniors receive a $5 discount on all Thursday performances. Group rates and student rush discounts are available.
All performances are at Fountain Hills Theater on its Mainstage at 11445 N. Saguaro Blvd. Tickets are available through the Theater Box Office at (480) 837-9661 x3 and on-line at www.fhtaz.org. Box Office hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
