After more than 15 years working for the Town of Fountain Hills Nancy Walter is retiring effective this week.

Walter and her husband, Jim, moved to the community in 2001. During her tenure with town staff she has most recently served as the executive assistant to the mayor, council and town manager.

“It’s been a great experience working for the town, serving the residents and assisting the mayors, councilmembers and Town Manager Grady Miller,” Walter said. “I’ve developed a lot of friendships with my coworkers and will miss them and our daily interactions.”

She said she plans to use retirement to spend more time with her mother, who lives in Sun City, and her children and grandchildren.

She has a son, Michael, and his wife, Sarah, who live in Tucson and have four daughters, Morgan, Molly, Makayla and Maysen.

Walter’s daughter, Jamie, and her husband, Devin, live in the Bay Area and are expecting their first child, a boy, this month.

To fill the position left by Walter’s departure the town has moved from within.

Angela Espiritu will take over the job as right hand to mayor and council and town manager.

She has been a Fountain Hills resident since 2004. She has experience in the private sector as an executive assistant, office manager and administrator.

Espiritu has worked for the town since last summer as executive assistant to the Community Services Department.

She has an adult daughter and is an animal lover with a Golden Retriever and rescue pets.

“I love this town, I never realized what all we have going on in town,” Espiritu said.
