The town will observe National Day of Prayer (NDOP) on Thursday, May 3, in the Fountain Park amphitheater.
The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. Complimentary hot dogs, beverages and desserts prepared and served by Fountain Hills Noon Kiwanis will be available from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m.
The theme is “Pray for America – Unity,” emphasizing the need for people, together and individually, to place their faith in the unfailing character of their Creator, who is sovereign over all governments, authorities and men.”
The Bible scripture is Ephesians 4:3: “Making every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of Peace.”
The program will include a keynote speaker, community prayers and singing. Mayor Linda Kavanagh will read a town proclamation.
Boy Scout Troop 343 will serve as color guards and lead the audience in the Pledge of Allegiance.
Fountain Hills Christian Ministerial Association is sponsoring the program. Representatives from several churches are organizing the event.
This year is the 66th annual NDOP program. The NDOP states “the present spiritual crisis in America is calling us to pray for and take all necessary actions to come together as a nation. Call upon God to empower us to make every effort to live in unity, call for unity and forward unity in America continually.”
