Neighbors will join in prayer in observance of National Day of Prayer (NDOP) Thursday, May 2, in the Fountain Park amphitheater.
Free food will be served beginning at 5:30 p.m., followed by the service at 6:30 p.m.
This year’s theme for the eighth local gathering will be “Love One Another,” based on the scripture John 13:34: “Love One Another. Just as I have loved you.”
Participants will be encouraged to pray for love in the seven centers of influence: government, church, military, family, education, media arts, and business.
Pastor Jeff Teeples, pastor of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, will be the keynote speaker and lead the prayer experiences.
“God loves us so much and wants us to Love One Another too,” said Teeples. “What better way to show God what is important to us than praying with our neighbors who care about the same things.”
Deacon Dick Smith will be the moderator. The Fountain Hills Ministerial Association is organizing the event.
Since 1952, similar prayer gatherings have occurred across the county
