National Day of Prayer Thursday

Participants in tomorrow’s National Day of Prayer (NDOP) gathering at the Fountain Park amphitheater will pray for a future of unconditional love.

The theme for the eighth local gathering on Thursday, May 2, is “Love One Another,” based on the scripture John 13:34: “Love One Another. Just as I have loved you.”

The service is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m., preceded by free food and beverages at 5:30 p.m.

Earlier in the day, at 7 a.m., an organized prayer walk around the Fountain or on the Overlook Trail is planned.

Dr. Ronnie Floyd, president of the National Day of Prayer Task Force, called upon participants to “choose love over hate, unity over division, and life over death.”

Prayers will be said for the seven centers of influence: government, church, military, family, education, media arts, and business.

Pastor Jeff Teeples, pastor of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, will be the keynote speaker.

“What better way to show God what is important to us than praying with our neighbors who care about the same things,” said Teeples.

Deacon Dick Smith will be the moderator. The Fountain Hills Ministerial Association is organizing the event.
