Nationally and in Fountain Hills, we sided with fear and intimidation

A recent opinion stated that the election was a victory for “faithfulness.” Faithfulness to what or whom? Christian Nationalism? Trump? It’s certainly not faithfulness to America or Christianity since MAGA Republicans demonstrated just the opposite of both by embracing dishonesty, lawlessness, violence, bullying and strong-armed foreign dictators.

Nationally we elected a sex offender, 34-time felon who incited an attack on the Capitol, promised to destroy our Constitution and its protections and exact vengeance on all who opposed him, even mentioning firing squads, mass deportations and concentration camps. He dehumanized and scapegoated already traumatized migrant families and others in order to manufacture fear of them.

Locally, we elected inexperienced candidates, some who put up signs untruthfully trashing Mayor Dickey rather than promoting their agenda. Our LGBTQ+ citizens were called wicked and demons and dehumanized to create fear in the voters. Christian behavior? Definitely not!
