We have become a na-tion with the politically correct (PC) police run-ning amuck. I can under-stand and appreciate that some people perceive the confederate flag as offen-sive.

I shouldn’t be required to feel the same way, however. Some of the ac-tions taken to placate this offended element border on the insane.

While I was working in Fountain Park a few weeks ago preparing for the 4th of July event, a team was putting up the state flags along the walkway. When I saw them place the Mississip-pi flag with the Stars and Bars in the corner, I jok-ingly commented that I was surprised that they could put that flag up. The guy acted embar-rassed and removed the flag. I guess now we are only allowed to view items that offend no one.

What’s next? As I see it, the most logical step is to remove all reference to the Confederate flag from the history books. Per-haps even moving the Civil War into a category with some of the geno-cides that have been per-petrated over the years would be more appropri-ate.

Of course we must quickly remove all statues of military personnel who served in the Confederate Army or were elected offi-cials in the south. And what about the guys I see with the flag on their car or license plate? Arrest these guys.

After taking these nec-essary steps, we now should undertake to im-peach (posthumously of course) all presidents of the United States who owned slaves.

There should be a foot-note in the history books detailing their transgres-sions. Get rid of their statues and other hono-rarium as well. Not enough you say? Well you can join the PC Police just by expressing your dis-pleasure with anything you don’t like. You too can erase a part of history and write your own.
