A guided hike is planned for Jan. 20. (Independent Newsmedia file photo)
Learn more about the Sonoran Desert ecosystem during this guided hike with Ranger Eric Hough at McDowell Mountain Regional Park Saturday, Jan. 20.
Join Ranger Eric for a guided hike to learn about the animals, plants and ecology of the Sonoran Desert. This hike is 4.5 miles round trip on a loop including portions of Pemberton, Stoneman Wash, and Granite Trails. Most trails are moderate grade with rocky or uneven ground, but the portion in Stoneman Wash is more difficult due to walking on deep sand. The hike may take about 3.5 hours, but possibly less.
Dress in layers, wear protective clothing and/or sunscreen, wear sturdy footwear, and carry ample water, electrolytes, and snacks. Restrooms are available at Trailhead Staging Area. Participants should meet at the Trailhead Staging Area off Shallmo Drive just past the Nature Center at 10:30 a.m.
