Much has been written of late of the studies, polling, facts and figures that justify why a primary property tax is the best (and really, the only) way that our town can go forward confident that it can pay its bills and keep our community attractive to us and our visitors. Without repeating the numbers, here is why I am voting for the property tax.
A Fountain Hills property tax is justified. The property tax is earmarked to finance justified needs for property-related services (e.g. our streets, curbs and storm water drainage systems), to maintain publicly owned infrastructure (e.g. our Community Center and Town Hall) and guarantees continuation of police and fire protection by covering increasing contractual costs.

A Fountain Hills property tax provides a stable and predictable source of indispensable revenue. The existing sources of revenue are not only unstable and unpredictable, they are grossly inadequate to cover both the postponed and the future costs of keeping our town up to date, safe and attractive to us and to those who might consider moving here.
A Fountain Hills property tax is fair. Nonresident property owners are taxed the same as full-time residents. By reaching nonresident owners, the property tax distributes the tax burden more equitably, thus costing the individual homeowner a little less.
I will gladly chip in about a dollar a day for all these good and necessary things to happen.
