The town has no money to finish fixing the remaining crumbing, broken roads. No money to hire back the 81 employees fired during the last recession. No money to replace the services they were doing. No money to cover the anticipated deficit budgets.
However, a few Town Council members had a secret meeting and came up with an idea on how to spend $4-6 million. Also, add hundreds of thousands of cost for yearly operations of their scheme. They want to build a beach lagoon. Six months a year you can sit on hot sand when the temperatures are 105 to 120 degrees. The other six months, pools are too cool to swim in. Are they planning on heating the lagoon?

How many acres of our 29-acre lake are you willing to give up? How many of our 64-acre park will we lose for parking 200 cars, concessions, baths, lockers and maintenance buildings? I am sure we will love the way the entire lagoon being fenced in will look. This will be done so no one can get in without paying, also for safety. Not only will we need life guards, but also security guards at night. They will keep out our teenagers and others from partying; you know, drinking beer and smoking mom and dad’s medical marijuana stash.
What happens when the high winds blow the lake water over the lagoon dam? Do our Kids swallow the treated sewage water? What’s next, Mr. Tolis, a roller coaster? We could rename the park “Little Coney Island.” I thought Mr. Tolis learned something over his last idea of building an aquatic park in our town.
Please stop wasting tax payers’ money. Priorities and necessities first.
