Neil T. Lyons, 69, died unexpectedly at his home on July 21, 2018. Neil served in the U.S. Navy from 1968 to 1975, where he received his computer training, which led to a successful career with Cisco Systems, and retired in 2007.

After moving to Wheaton, Ill. he became interested in serving his community and joined the reserve police in Wheaton and continued for 19 years serving the cities of Carol Stream and Villa Park as well. He continued working in the real estate arena, working for various companies here in Fountain Hills. Neil’s passion was his Harley, oh how he loved to ride, and when joining the American Legion he also joined the ALR bikers Post 58 and held various positions ending with president of the ALR Bikers. He loved people and took pride in his efforts at the post, but nothing could top a good ‘ole bike ride with the group!

Neil was preceded in death by nieces, Branndie and Jennifer; nephew, Danny and grandnephew, Terry Justin. He was the loving husband of 49 years to Sherry, proud dad of son, Thor (Jennifer) and grandpa to his cherished granddaughters Brooke and Hailey. Neil also leaves behind his parents, Richard and Julia Ann Lyons; sister, Deb Pauley (Larry); brother, Rich Lyons (Sally); sisters-in-law, Dona Stone (Marshall) and Carol Roller Cappleman (Duane), and a very special friend, Mary Alary.

It cannot be said enough how much Neil treasured his special friends, John and Melissa Weedo, Dutch and Jeanne Gottschalk and his wonderful band of brothers from back east, Greg, Michael and Tom as well as his extended family at the post.

In lieu of flowers, please honor Neil by donating to the American Legion Post who does so much for the veterans or Fearless Kitty Rescue, both in Fountain Hills.

Services will be held at the Messinger Mortuary, 12065 N. Saguaro Blvd., Fountain Hills at 9 a.m. on Monday, July 30, 2018 with burial at the National Memorial Cemetery. A

Celebration of Life will be held at the American Legion Post immediately afterward and everyone is invited to party in Neil’s memory.

We love you so much and will miss your smiling face, but you will always be in our hearts forever. Your loving family.
