Here we go again, the town and the School District need more money.
What a surprise.
The supporters of the bond measures like to use misleading language telling you it will only cost “X” amount per year. Watch out folks, the two bond measures on the November ballot will increase your property taxes significantly over their lifetime.

The school bond is for 21 years. The Saguaro Blvd. road bond is for five years. The starting average annual cost will more than likely increase over time as assessed value on your homes increase over time. Look at your property value notifications for 2014. They are up significantly since 2012. My 2013 taxes are 9 percent higher than 2012.
I am of the opinion that the school districts across this country will never have enough money unless we completely reform the education system by adding competition to government-run schools.
Roads and infrastructure should be top priorities of state and local government using existing tax resources. After all, we are already taxed on everything. They can access these various sources of existing revenue by changing the laws.
Until the citizens force those changes by voting with their wallets, nothing changes.
Yes, they are all worthy causes, but so is your own personal financial security. I have seen too many retirees on fixed incomes forced out of their homes across the country because property taxes were suffocating them. Do not let that happen here.
