A changing of the guard took place last night, Dec. 4, with new council members being sworn in to help lead Fountain Hills through the coming years.
Among that number was the town’s new mayor, Ginny Dickey, who said in her 1A interview this week that she will be relying on the cooperation of the community and Fountain Hills’ neighbors to keep the town moving forward.
Dickey was sworn in alongside new council members Mike Scharnow and David Spelich, along with the re-elected Alan Magazine. They join Sherry Lechrone, who was only recently sworn in herself following appointment to a vacant council seat.
The Times would like to wish these new and continuing council members the best of luck and look forward to seeing their collective vision take shape around the community.
At the same time, the council bids farewell to outgoing Mayor Linda Kavanagh and council members Henry Leger and Nick DePorter. All told, those individuals served the community for 22 years on the council. The Times thanks Kavanagh, Leger and DePorter for their service and encourages them to go out and enjoy a much-deserved break in a town that would not be what it is today without their involvement.
