The Rio Verde Community Association (RVCA) has notified community residents that Cox Communications has made a new bulk services proposal for high-speed internet service along with cable TV access.
Community Utilities Committee Chairman Tom Stegmann made the announcement in a communication to Rio Verde residents.
“After more than a year of negotiations, Cox Communications has made a very attractive proposal to provide high speed internet access to all Rio Verde homes under a bulk agreement, in addition to the current cable TV access,” Stegmann said.
Currently, Cox provides Cable TV access to each home for $33 per month that is included in the annual RVCA assessment. Under the new proposal, that service would continue, and for an additional $40 per month Cox would provide the following additional service: Internet access at 500Mbs level, Cox modem and router and four wireless TV connectivity boxes.
The additional cost of $40 per month would also be paid through the yearly RVCA assessment for a total of $73 per month.
“The average home in Rio Verde currently pays approximately $82 per month for just internet access,” Stegmann said. “Check your recent statements to see what you are paying. We anticipate that the new agreement should save homeowners at least $42 per month.
“Unless you are buying other services from Cox (upgraded TV sports packages, Cox Mobile, etc.) your individual Cox Communications bill should go to $0 because it will now be covered in your yearly RVCA assessment.”
It is anticipated that this new service would begin in July 2025, which will result in $240 (6 months x $40/month) being added to the upcoming 2025 RVCA assessment.
The proposal was presented to the RVCA board at the meeting Thursday, Nov. 21.
