The Fountain Hills Town Council has approved new regulations related to operating a business from a residential home.
“With a digital age and the types of businesses evolving, town staff have identified situations where activities of a business nature are being operated in a home, but the nature of the activity does not fit within the current definitions and regulations as a home occupation,” Development Services Director John Wesley told the council in his staff report. The situation has prevented staff from effectively addressing issues that impact neighbors, he said.
“The proposed changes presented … are designed to give (staff) better tools to try and ensure activities being conducted in a home are truly being operated by the resident of the home, comply with home occupation requirements and do not negatively impact surrounding property owners,” Wesley said.
