New statue

On Monday, Oct. 17, the Public Art Committee dedicated a statue of President Franklin Delano Roosevelt to the town of Fountain Hills. As chairman of the committee for this project, I was very proud to be able to watch this moment unfold.

Without the support of the community and an outstanding committee working tirelessly, we would not have been able to accomplish this. My thanks go out to the following members of my committee: Cynthia Magazine, Ginny Dickey, Sandy Zinn, Dave Long, Dawn Schlum, Ann Schweers, Fred Hansen, Lloyd Drennen, Sheila Nichols, Kirby Jones, Linda Jennings, Terry Brown and special thanks to Jackie Miles, our treasurer.

At the celebration, we were delighted to have The Fountain Hills Saxophone Quartet, under the direction of Dale Nelson. Thank you to members David Felten, Heather Baldwin Jones and musician/vocalist Donna Wilde. This quartet began in 2013 and often plays for patriotic and civic events.

This statue will contribute to the fine art collection in our town for the enjoyment of the citizens.
