Governor Ducey, who speaks so certain about the need to support the public school system, has another trick going on in addition to convincing the citizens that Prop 123 will increase public school funding.
As you may know, Prop 123 takes money from The School Trust Fund and gives it to the school system and labels it as an increase in funding. This will have disastrous funding effects after Ducey’s so-called 10-year program of bleeding this fund.
Ducey’s other trick is in the support of our universities, which in 2015 were supported at a level about 50 percent lower than they were in 2009. This year, there is a small amount of additional funding for the universities, but a significant amount of it ($5 million in the new budget) is for “freedom schools,” which apparently our uneducated legislators decided are needed.

The Koch billions supports these schools, which operate under universities throughout the USA. The schools do not give degrees but are simply conservative think tanks encouraged and supported by the Koch billions.
In Arizona, the support for these projects has now mainly shifted to using tax payer money – at a loss in funding for real university needs.
Another recent trick Ducey is attempting is to increase the size of the State Supreme Court, so that he can appoint additional members of his liking. This is probably in retaliation for the court ruling that the state must abide by the constitution concerning public school funding.
When one considers shenanigans being done by the State Republican hierarchy in regard to school funding, it is difficult to believe any of the recent propaganda costing someone (?) millions of dollars to encourage a yes vote on Prop123. For the good of Arizona and the future of our children, vote no on prop 123.
