OPINION – A recent letter did more than disagree with my account of the Nov. 18 council meeting, it attempted to erase it. Let me be clear: no one gets to rewrite my lived experience.
Yes, the chamber appeared calm during the few minutes I finally spoke. That was only because deputies had already cleared the room. The chaos didn’t vanish during those moments — it happened before I ever took the podium: shouting, confrontations, repeated recesses, deputies stepping in and an atmosphere that was tense, intimidating and scary.
That is what I sat through. That is what I felt. And my videos — along with recordings captured by other attendees — show it clearly.
