The Fountain Hills Town Council discussed revisions to the Town’s noise ordinance last Thursday (Dec, 1) at their meeting. The Town staff recommends setting the violation level at 80 dB during daylight hours, measured inside a home with the doors and windows closed. 80 dB is the level at which hearing loss begins and the Federal government requires employers to provide protective gear to employees.
So a resident would be subject to that level of sound inside their home with doors and windows closed before it was a violation under staff’s recommendation. That is insane!

If passed, the residents of Fountain Hills would have less protection against noise issues than any other Arizona residents. If you expect more, I encourage you to express your concerns to the Council.
