Noon Kiwanis set 'No Foolin' pancakes

The Noon Kiwanis Club announced it will conduct a “No Foolin’” pancake breakfast Saturday, April 1.

It will be held from 8 to 11 a.m. at the Kiwanis Activity Center, 16957 E. Kiwanis Drive.

The clubhouse is located south of Fountain Park, between Saguaro and El Lago boulevards.

Normally the club would be offering its world-famous pancake breakfast at the town’s April 8 Eggstravaganza.

However, the club had to withdraw from the annual egg hunt event at Golden Eagle Park because its cook trailer was damaged by an unknown motorist after the Great Fair a few weeks ago.

“Unfortunately, we went to pick up our trailer on Monday morning after the fair and we discovered that someone had likely backed into it and damaged it,” said club President Ken Brown. “We couldn’t get the repairs done in time to fulfill our appearance at the egg hunt. So, we decided to offer a delicious pancake breakfast on a Saturday at the clubhouse instead.”

The typical “Big K” breakfast consists of pancakes, sausage, applesauce and scrambled eggs – cost is $6.

A la carte menu items will be available along with refreshments such as coffee, milk and orange juice.

Proceeds will benefit the Noon Kiwanis Club’s many programs and grants that are directed primarily to children in town and throughout the world.

The club also will be conducting the second day of its blood drive at the Community Center that Saturday, so all blood donors are urged to have a hearty breakfast before or after donating.

“We’ll have tables and chairs set up inside the Kiwanis clubhouse, so the weather won’t be a factor,” Brown said. “Come on out and sup-port a good cause and get a great breakfast at the same time.”
