He will portray John Clum, a man of many talents who in 1880 founded and was editor of the Tombstone Epitaph newspaper. He was later the mayor of “the town too tough to die.”

OK Corral is Historical Society topic

The town of Tombstone, Wyatt Earp and the Gunfight at the O.K. Corral will all be topics at this month’s dinner meeting of the Fountain Hills & Lower Verde River Valley Historical Society.
Rod Timanus will be the guest speaker at the dinner Wednesday, Nov. 20.
He will portray John Clum, a man of many talents who in 1880 founded and was editor of the Tombstone Epitaph newspaper. He was later the mayor of “the town too tough to die.”
Clum was also a personal friend of Wyatt Earp.
Timanus is an author, illustrator and historian of the old West. He has performed as several historical figures in plays around the state.
He has appeared in segments of “Outrageous Arizona,” a True West magazine production for our local PBS TV station.
Reservations for the dinner must be made by Sunday, Nov. 17, by telephoning Jean Linzer at 837-0862, sending an e-mail to jlinzer@aol.com or going to the museum website (www.riverof timemuseum.org) and clicking on “Dinner Reservations.”
Cost of the dinner is $18 for members and $22 for guests. Dinner starts at the Community Center at 6:30 p.m. and cocktails are available at 6 p.m.
The menu for the evening is mixed salad with dressing, turkey and stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, vegetables, dinner rolls and pumpkin pie.
