On Wisconsin!

In the past few weeks we’ve seen letters debating the merits of an event held here recently.

There’s an upcoming event everyone can agree on.

It’s the second annual WisconsinFest. It will take place in our Community Center on Saturday, March 15. Admission is free and the non-offensive hours are 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Gov. Scott Walker issued a formal proclamation replete with an embossed seal, fancy ribbon and counter signed by the secretary of state. He declared it to be “Wisconsin Day in Fountain Hills.” (You can own this if you’re the high bidder in the silent auction.) Gov. Brewer also issued a nice letter welcoming everyone.

There will be goodies to be raffled and auctioned..like a signed Packers football and over $500 worth of quality merchandise donated by Harley-Davidson of Scottsdale.

How about a Wisconsin brat, kraut and fresh Wisconsin cheese curds? Top it off with a Leinenkugel or Miller Lite and you’ll know you’ve had a good day. All to be topped off no doubt when the band plays a rousing rendition of “On Wisconsin!”

WisconsinFest evolved to bring together former Wisconsin residents, snowbirds, vacationers and everyone else who enjoys Wisconsin-style fun. Yes, everyone is invited and is most welcome. If you’re a University of Wisconsin alum, you’ll be pleased to know your alumni association will be represented with a table.

So mark March 15 on your calendar and plan to come over for some good food, drink, entertainment and a chance to socialize with a big, interesting group of happy Badgers.

WisconsinFest is organized by the non-profit L. Alan Cruikshank River of Time Museum. Proceeds will help support future events, new exhibits and other community-based educational and cultural activities for both children and adults.
