The community is invited to learn about the Ashbrook Wash Improvement Project at a public open house Tuesday, March 25, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Fountain Hills Community Center, 13001 N. La Montana Drive.
The Flood Control District of Maricopa County and the Town of Fountain Hills have partnered on the project to make improvements to Ashbrook Wash between Bayfield Drive and Del Cambre Avenue.
Currently in the design phase, it is expected to include replacing two culvert crossings (at Bayfield Drive and Saguaro Boulevard), as well as cleaning and channelizing Ashbrook Wash as necessary to ensure it can safely convey flood flows.

Once completed, properties adjacent to the wash between Bayfield Drive and Del Cambre Avenue will be protected from flooding caused by 100-year flows through the wash, or flows that have a 1 percent chance of occurring in any given year.
The design phase of Ashbrook Wash Improvement Project is expected to be completed by the fall. Construction could begin as early as 2015, depending on the availability of funding. Design and construction of the project are being coordinated with the town’s Saguaro Boulevard reconstruction project.
