With the closure of the Fountain Hills Unified School District on Thursday and Friday, the community of Fountain Hills is coming together to offer parents safe places to send their kids for the days school is closed.

The Boys & Girls Club McKee Branch in town will open its doors at 7 a.m. until 6 p.m. Current club members will not be charged any additional fees but non-members will need to pay a daily rate of $35.

The Boys & Girls Club will offer this service Thursday and Friday, but if the strike continues in to the next week, similar services will be offered at a yet-to-be-determined rate. Parents can contact the McKee branch to register their child at 480-344-5400.

Christ’s Church of Fountain Hills also will offer a safe place for students in grades K through eight. For high school students, the church is offering community service hours for students who need them.

The church will open its doors at 8 a.m. and remain open until 4 p.m. Christ’s Church asks that parents provide their children with $3 per day for lunch and a snack. Parents can register their child by emailing scott.mathis@christchurch.online or by calling the church at 480-837-3121.
