I am grateful we have a woman of strength like our Mayor, Mrs. Kavanagh. She once again showed her character at last Thursday’s Town Council meeting when Council members Dickey and Tait tried to suppress her Mayor Report summarizing her activities of the previous week. The Mayor was recounting the intelligence she was gathering to respond to the well-orchestrated (but failed) attempt to ram through the “Special Interest Group Coercion ordinance discussion” (a.k.a. “Anti-Discrimination” ordinance). The Dickey/Tait cabal wanted to blot out her work from the previous week as though it didn’t occur because it didn’t align with the liberal agenda. Fortunately, the Mayor stood her ground. Interestingly, even though Mr. Tait excoriated her from “taking unnecessary Council time,” I noted that he did not in the slightest limit himself while effusively bloviating his own comments!
The liberal line is they simply “wanted to open a discussion.” This of course is code word for elevating the same–sex “special interest group” issue, which if implemented, will see the destruction of the Christian business community and Christian lives through lawsuits that deny a Christian the right of their God-honoring conscience, and freedom of religion. Why is it that a less than 3% of the population who practice a homosexual lifestyle require their sexual liberties be elevated in importance above the 30-40% of the county’s Christian population? Are we to initiate similar discussions with other groups in “protecting” lifestyle choices that have destructive results such as alcohol addiction, gambling addiction, serial philanderers, miscreants and misfits? Do they also have a right to force Christians to abrogate their faith? I trust the Council gets the message loud and clear. Enough of this nonsense. We have more urgent issues and ask you to keep our community priorities in order.
