Over 140,000 bags of food filled at Fountain Hills Community Food Pack

Nearly 300 volunteers turn out for community event

Surpassing its goal of packing 80,000 bags of food, the 12th annual Fountain Hills Community Food Pack event exceeded its target, more than doubling last year's total of 64,000 bags by packing 140,803 bags of oatmeal, cinnamon, and sugar for those in need.

Nearly 300 volunteers signed up for the food pack held Wednesday, Feb. 26, in the Community Center ballrooms. Another 75 volunteers helped set up the event.

Beginning at 1:30 p.m., community members helped unload ingredients, make boxes and greet volunteers as they streamed into the center. The food pack officially began at 5:30 p.m. and the final tally was made after 8 p.m.
