High temperatures continue to cause an increase in ground level ozone levels in the Valley prompting the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality to extend its high pollution advisory through Tuesday, July 31. ADEQ has issued the high pollution advisory for ozone for 19 of the 31 days in the month of July.
Air quality-wise, ozone levels are expected to have the potential to exceed the federal health standard each day. And due to the westerly winds, highest ozone levels are expected to be realized in the northeast/east parts of the Valley.
People with respiratory ailments as well as elderly and young children are advised to avoid prolonged outdoor activity. Reduce driving and refuel later in the day or early morning hours.
