Paige Productions Youth Theater (PYT) has announced its fall production for kids starting Monday, Sept. 9, with enrollment now open.
“Willy Wonka Kids” is a 30-minute adaptation of the original movie musical featuring songs like “The Candy Man,” “Golden Ticket” and “Pure Imagination.”
This after-school program is purposely aimed at creating more leading roles for younger kids, according to a press release.
“Kids of all ages love this show. Willy Wonka captures their imagination like no other storyline,” PYT owner and Director Paige Beckman said. “We have huge fake lollipops and candy props that the kids love performing with. They love being Oompa Loompas and performing as the famous characters, Veruca Salt, Mike Teevee, Augustus Gloop and Violet Beauregarde.”
This production is part of the Theater for Busy Kids program at PYT designed to provide performers with theater experience while allowing time for family, school and other activities.
PYT productions do not have a stressful audition process and everyone who participates has a special part in the show, a press release says.
“Willy Wonka Kids” is open to students 13 and under with 10 rehearsals, mostly held Mondays after school from 4 to 6:30 p.m. and two performances for the community on the final day, Saturday, Nov. 2, at 2 and 4:30 p.m.
