In the past months, I have called the mayor’s office six times and had one brief meeting with her about problems including the debris and the landscape on Palisades Boulevard from SunRidge Drive to Shea.
Drive south slowly and gaze at the trash in the bushes along the street. I have been watching this for five months and it just gets worse. Some plastic bottles and bags have been there the whole time. Businesses that advertise on signs are not doing anything. The town seems to think it’s no big deal.
This is the first entrance to our town. The first impression. Are Realtors watching? When things lay there for five months, it tells you nobody is picking up.

Look at all the sprinkler drip lines laying in plain view with no plants anywhere. The only plants blooming are Brittle Brush, which will be brown in a few weeks. This is a weed, not a nursery plant.
I have driven all the islands in town and not one of them looks like Palisades. The mayor is aware but seems to have no interest in cleaning up this mess and manicuring the islands.
Palisades looks like no other median in Fountain Hills. Maybe some people have forgotten what the medians should look like.
Ride around McCormick Ranch, Scottsdale Ranch or Gainey Ranch and look at the condition of their medians and islands. They are all beautiful. Not ours. For those of us who have lived in Arizona forever, we are not used to such lack of care.
All residents and especially the Realtors should be very upset about this. Is anybody watching? Call the mayor; call the businesses that are getting the free advertising in our signs.
The letters will stop when the town cleans up the mess and makes Palisades look like other major streets.
