Fountain Hills was well represented at the 63rd annual Arizona Parks and Recreation Association awards banquet.
Hosted at the Fairmont Princess Resort, the banquet concluded the group’s annual convention Aug. 29.
Kathy Worrell, recreation coordinator for the town’s Community Services, was honored with the “young professional” award, considered the second highest professional award given out each year by the APRA.
In addition, The Times and its monthly sister publication, Let’s Go!, received a joint media award from APRA.
Worrell has worked for Fountain Hills since January 2007 and told the group after accepting the award that she “loves” the field of parks and recreation.
The newspapers were recognized for publishing stories about special events and programs organized by the parks and recreation personnel along with collaborating on "In the Loop," a special section inserted into Let's Go! and The Times on a monthly basis
